Compassionate Eyes

When you see someone in need, what do you SEE? Do we see an irresponsible person? A victim? An ignorant person? In the story of the Good Samaritan, we see three sets of eyes: the busy minister's eyes, the busy layman’s eyes, and the compassionate hero’s eyes. The minister and the layman saw the same need, but they saw their plans and responsibilities as more important than the needs of the victim. The compassionate eyes of the Samaritan saw the needs of the victim as more important than his plans. He reasoned, “There’s a need, I can meet it. I need to change my schedule and make this need my priority.” What are the needs in our community that you see? What am I doing about it?” What is our church doing about it? What can our church do about it?
